Studies in Documentary Film recently published an extended interview with Patricia R. Zimmermann, Professor of Screen Studies and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) and Dale Hudson, Associate Professor of Cinema and New Media, New York University Abu Dhabi, about their book, Thinking through Digital Media: Transnational Environments and Locative Places (London: Palgrave Macmillan, 2015).
Ryan Watson conducted the interview with both authors for a special issue of the journal. The interview probes the theoretical models the book offers about how to think through relationships between nature, people, the nonhuman, and the built environment through new media projects. The book analyzes 130 new media documentary and experimental projects across different platforms, regions, and environmental issues as offering new epistemological strategies and new ways to consider environmental politics from a postcolonial and posthuman perspective.
