Ithaca College will hold a shelter-in-place drill for the third floor of Peggy Ryan Williams Center on the morning of Tuesday, November 12th. The third floor of PRWC will be completely closed to the public from 8:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on that date. Any incoming phone calls to third floor offices during that time will be forwarded to voicemail.
Only the third floor of PRWC will be involved in the drill. The rest of the building--including the Office of Student Financial Services and Office of the Registrar--and the rest of campus will be unaffected.
The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is working with offices across campus to develop individualized emergency response plans, and the drill will provide an opportunity for those who work on the third floor of PRWC to practice responding to an active-shooter type situation. The drill will not include any simulated attack, but rather will commence and conclude with an announcement to employees who work in the office.
Signage will be placed at the entrances in advance of and during the drill, and Public Safety will be stationed in the area. Members of the campus community not participating do not need to take any action.
If you have any questions about the drill, contact Bill Kerry, director and chief of the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, at wkerry@ithaca.edu.
