The Cosmic Joke Collective Presents Ithaca Free Clinic Benefit Show: The Beatles Tribute featuring performers that include IC students, alumni, staff, and faculty from Noon Fifteen, The Uncommons, Hollow Choir, Thru Spectrums, Honey Cave, Motherwort, Night Monkeys, Vee Da Bee, Sim Redmond Band, Viva Mayhem, Space Train, and more!
“The Cosmic Joke Collective is excited to team up with DSP shows in a benefit for Ithaca Free Clinic. Over 30 performers will "come together" in a variety of ensembles to perform Abbey Road from start-to-finish.,” said Mickie Quinn '94, co-producer of this year’s show.
The 4th Annual Ithaca Free Clinic benefit will take place on Saturday, November 23rd at the Haunt in Ithaca. Doors open at 7 pm, with music and raffle prizes, and the main show begins at 8 pm. All proceeds from the evening’s event will benefit the Ithaca Free Clinic.
The night will begin with a mixed bag of Beatles songs performed by small ensembles. The Cosmic Joke Collective was formed in 1999 in New York City to give artists a place to present works in progress, create one-time-only pieces with new collaborators, and to pay tribute the legends and inspirational figures in our various art forms.
"In the spirit of the Collective, we are excited to mix and match dozens of artists in tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Abbey Road - one of The Beatles most inspired recordings,” said Mickey Quinn, Collective curator and emcee.
“We are grateful to Mac Myers, Mark Meyer at the Haunt, Mickie Quinn, the Cosmic Joke Collective, Samuel Lupowitz (event Music Director), and DSP Shows for their help in putting this benefit show together. We are also grateful for this year’s event sponsors, CFCU Community Credit Union, Illume Projects, and the IthacaVoice for their generous support. Finally, a shout-out to the Free Clinic volunteers and Development Committee for all their efforts in helping to make this year’s event a reality,” said Executive Director Norbert McCloskey. “We are so thankful to have this support of our local music and business communities. The Ithaca Free Clinic has provided free integrated medical assistance to nearly 1000 uninsured and under-insured members of our community to date this year. With the number of uninsured Americans continuing to climb, we believe more than ever, the Ithaca Free Clinic will be needed to care for the uninsured and underserved members of our community.”
