Elisabeth Nonas joined the Park School faculty in 1996 teaching screenwriting classes, and since then she has developed and taught all levels of screenwriting courses including adaptation, writing for videogames and emerging media, and her current favorite, Story: From Cave Paintings to Emerging Media. As a key member of our "Screenwriting Posse", she was instrumental in developing our distinctive BFA in Writing for Film, Television and Emerging Media. She also teaches in our executive-style M.S. in Communications Innovation and will be heading to Los Angeles in January to lead one of our signature intensives that incorporates a visit with Disney Imagineers.
Nonas is an accomplished novelist and screenwriter, the author of Story Workout: Exercises to Help You Connect to the Stories You Want to Tell, and one of our most excellent teachers (she won the Excellence in Teaching award in 2008) but her contributions to our community extend far beyond that work. She is an energetic activist for social justice and issues focusing on gender, racial, and LGBTQ equity and inclusion. Forging close connections to our alumni as well as with the greater Ithaca community, Elisabeth has nurtured the careers of many aspiring writers and media developers, and inspired them to use their communications skills to make positive impacts on the media industry as well as in the spaces where they live and work.
