Patricia Zimmermann, Professor of Screen Studies and Co-director of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, delivered three invited presentations at the Human Rights Film Festival in Los Angeles November 1 and 2, 2019.
She presented the curated programs “States of Violence,” “Wages of Work,” and “Turf” at the Echo Park Film Center, site of the Human Rights Film Festival in Los Angeles.
These programs are three of six programs of the major national touring exhibition she co-curated with Louis Massiah entitled We Tell: Fifty Years of Participatory Community Media.
The exhibition, which will premiere at 20 sites across the US over the next six months, chronicles the hidden histories of community media made by subjects for use in their own communities to challenge power relations.
The exhibition is supported by major grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Ford Foundation.
