Ithaca College will hold a shelter-in-place drill for the Roy H. Park School of Communications at noon on December 6th. The Park School and Park Café will be completely closed to the public from Noon to 12:20 p.m. on this date. Classes will be held as scheduled. Any incoming phone calls to offices during that time will be forwarded to voicemail.
Only Roy H. Park School of Communications and Park Café will be involved in the drill. The rest of the campus will be unaffected.
The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is working with offices across campus to develop individualized emergency response plans, and the drill will provide an opportunity for those who work in Park School to practice responding to an active-shooter type situation.
The drill will not include any simulated attack, but rather will commence and conclude with an announcement to employees who work in the office.
Signage will be placed at the entrances in advance of and during the drill, and Public Safety will be stationed in the area. Members of the campus community not participating do not need to take any action.
