After 38 years at Ithaca College, Irene Scott will be retiring on January 2, 2020. During that time Irene became an Ithaca College alumnus and earned professional certifications in her field. Irene began her career at IC in the School of Humanities and Sciences. She next moved to Institutional Research, providing data programming for college surveys, and coordinated yearly reports for federal and state agencies before transferring to the College’s technology department. There, Irene provided computer training and support when desktop computing was still in its infancy at IC. She presented workshops on various subjects including spreadsheets, word processing and databases, as well as the emerging concept of the “World Wide Web.” Irene went on to oversee the College’s first technology ‘HelpDesk” (now “Service Desk”) before moving on to desktop acquisition where she provided consulting and purchasing assistance while managing the day-to-day activities of the College’s Technology Renewal Program. She moved to the College’s new Procurement department in 2015. Irene will be assisting her husband in his HVAC business, and plans to do more traveling, camping, on-line sales and consulting, and crafting.
