December 10, 2019-- Ithaca, NY --  Twenty-eight Ithaca College students enrolled in a journalism law course will debrief their semester experience in making Freedom of Information (FOI) requests while analyzing a housing contamination case. The debrief will transpire on Thursday, December 19, 2019 in Williams Hall, Room 323 on the Ithaca College campus beginning at 8:15 a.m., concluding at 10:00 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The legal analysis for the contamination case involved researching the law, performing investigative work and making public requests for information (FOI). The analysis was then framed as an ethical/legal segment for a podcast series. This is the second term that the Laurel Bay Military Housing Health Review has been assigned for analysis.

The podcast segment teams will discuss the following areas in the debrief:

MILITARY SERVICE

MILITARY HOUSING

 MILITARY HEALTH & WELLNESS

 ETHICS OF THE CASE

THE ENVIRONMENT AND CANCER

 ACCOUNTABILITY AND OUTCOMES

 EVIDENCE IN LAW

The research component of this endeavor involved a partnership with Assistant Professor Allison Frisch's Mass Media Research class and the student audio engineer for the podcast series was Austin "AJ" Guerrero from the Roy H. Park School of Communications. The Fall 2019 Mass Media Research (MMR) Team included: Sophia Adamucci, Noah Barnes, Diana Castillo, Adriana Darcy, Olivia Forker, Aiden Lentz, Giulia Villanveva Lopez. Kristine Mirand, Nicole Pimental, Sobeida Rosa, Falyn Stempler, and John Wikiera.
