Barney Beins (Psychology) participated in a symposium on teaching diversity at the Northeastern Conference for Teachers of Psychology, a one-day teaching conference held in conjunction with the annual convention of the New England Psychological Association.
The symposium was entitled "Diversity in Unusual Places." His contribution focused on using historical topics in psychology to discuss diversity issues in the discipline. Co-presenters were from Seton Hall University and Hunter College of CUNY.
Barney Beins established the teaching conference in 1995. It took place at Ithaca College for four years before the New England Psychological Association adopted it as a pre-convention meeting focused on the teaching of psychology. He still participates on the steering committee.
