This weekend! Family-friendly orchestra concert for the Ithaca Community, featuring the Festival Chorus under the direction of Kristin Zaryski in Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances.
The Cayuga Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra (CCOYO) invites you to celebrate a very special concert with us on January 11, 2020 at 4pm in Ford Hall. Under the baton of Kirsten Marshall, our third season begins with the haunting call of distant trumpet in Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé Suite, drawn from the 1934 film of the same name. The next piece on the program, Shuggie’s Boogies, is a world premiere composed by Ithaca College alum, Josh Oxford. Oxford describes his piece as a Motown groove veiled in twelve tone serialism. Competition winner Kate Wyly follows with the beloved first movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in e minor. The last piece of the concert is Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances. Our first Festival Chorus, a gathering of high school and community members under the direction of Kristin Zaryski, joins the CCOYO in a rousing finale. Children under 18 are free, and adults are only $10 each. Please join us!
