Peer Career Advisors (PCAs) play an invaluable role as paraprofessionals in the Career Services office at Ithaca College. PCAs provide tailored career advice to students from all backgrounds interested in an array of professions. Drop-ins, presentations, and events across campus are just few of many opportunities PCAs have to showcase their knowledge on career related topics as well as facilitate professional development of their own.
PCA training covers vital information including job and internship search, resume proofreading, interview preparation, and more. Throughout the duration of the year, PCAs disperse these tools for success while receiving mentorship from the Office of Career Services Professional Staff.
Being a PCA presents a wonderful opportunity as well as a great resume builder! Below are some of the responsibilities associated with being a PCA:
· Resume and cover letter editing and development
· Job and internship searching
· Professional networking and alumni mentors
· Interview preparation
· Graduate school search and application process
· Using online resources such as Handshake, Alumni Directory, and Career Shift
All majors are welcome to apply. Students from underrepresented backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
