After several debates against schools from across the country Ithaca College debater Callie Nguyen (21, IMC and Finance) claimed first place in the Junior Varity division defeating a debater from Lafayette College in the finals on a 2-1 decision. After several debates against schools from across the country Ithaca College debater Callie Nguyen (21, IMC and Finance) claimed first place in the Junior Varity division defeating a debater from Lafayette College in the finals on a 2-1 decision.
In the preliminary rounds Callie went 4-2 and was seeded fourth going into the quarterfinals where she defeated debaters from Sacramento State University and Missouri State University in the semifinals. Also representing Ithaca College at Webster University’s Gorlok Gala Speech and Debate Tournament was Sarah Lawal (22, Legal Studies) participating in her first intercollegiate debate competition. Commenting on the tournament where she also scored a victories versus Hillsdale College and Illinois College Sarah explained, “it was an amazing experience and I had a lot of fun. I can’t wait to continue participating in future tournaments and strengthening my speech and debate skills.”
