On Friday, February 21, twenty-four students from across majors in HSHP will be working in 8 interprofessional teams on a case study about the Hammond Health Center. IC Alumni and Community Partners will judge the competition selecting 3 teams to move on to the finals. The Hammond Health Center Medical Director and Operations Manager will judge the final round.
This exciting inaugural event includes interprofessional teams of students in Public & Community Health, Health Sciences, Health Care Management, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Physical Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, and Athletic Training.
The campus community is welcome to attend the final round of presentations starting at 10:30 am on Saturday in CHS 203 when the the three top teams will compete for prizes in this first annual HSHP IPE Case Competition.
Faculty and staff in HSHP view interprofessional education (IPE) as fundamental to producing better patient and community health outcomes. This project is one of several IPE initiatives in HSHP designed to promote interprofessional learning opportunities for students.
The event is sponsored by a Provost's Office Academic Challenge Grant, the School of HSHP, the Hammond Health Center, and the Departments of Exercise Science and Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Recreation and Leisure Studies, and Health Promotion and Physical Education. The event would not be possible without the assistance of a variety of IC Alumni and community partners.
