Your responses to the 2020 Census are protected by Federal Law and responses are used only to produce statistical information.
Individual responses are protected by Federal Law (Title 13). Personal information collected by the Census Bureau cannot by shared with any government agency or court. Census bureau employees are sworn to protect confidentiality for life.
Violating Title 13 is a federal crime with severe penalties, including a federal prison sentence of up to five years, a fine of up to $250,000, or both.
The cybersecurity program being used for the 2020 Census meets the highest and most recent standards and data is encrypted to protect privacy. Access to the data is restricted and a;l responses are kept on a private, internal network behind firewalls.
