Conversations From The Big Leagues: Eli Gobrecht ’16 and Tim Locastro ’14

Join Marc D'Amico '08, former IC football student-athlete and Director of Digital Content for the Boston Celtics as he leads a conversation between professional athletes Tim Locastro '14 and Eli Gobrecht '16 about the state of professional sports and their respective careers on South Hill. Webinar participants will have the opportunity to ask questions in real time and will automatically be entered in a raffle for some free Bomber swag!

Background on Locastro and Gobrecht:

Locastro was drafted in the 13th Round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and spent nearly three years in their Minor League system before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He made is MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2017 and then played 18 games during 2018, where he picked up his first career base hit. In the offseason, Locastro was traded to the New York Yankees and then to the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he currently plays. Locastro spent most of 2019 with the Diamondbacks as he played in 91 games and batted .250 with 53 hits, 38 runs scored, 17 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 12 doubles. He also ranked fourth in the MLB with 22 hit by pitches and belted his first career home run at Yankee Stadium on July 31.

Gobrecht has played for numerous lacrosse teams during his professional career. He began his journey by signing with the Vancouver Stealth of the National Lacrosse League in 2017 and then was drafted by the Denver Outlaws in the 8th Round of the Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft in 2018. Gobrecht played in 14 games for the Outlaws, which culminated with an MLL Championship. He scooped up 29 groundballs and caused 14 turnovers that season, with a goal and assist. He also spent the 2019 season with Denver before signing with the San Diego Seals of the NLL on August 12, 2019. On March 16, 2020, Gobrecht was drafted No. 4 overall by the Archers LC of the Premier Lacrosse League.

Marc D'Amico:

Marc is a 2008 graduate of Ithaca College, where he played four years for the football team. Marc is the in-house analyst and team reporter for the Boston Celtics. Since joining the Celtics during the 2008-09 season, he has served as the on-air analyst for all of the team's digital programming, which airs on Celtics.com and all of the team's social media platforms. His analyst work is featured in everything from pregame shows, to draft prospect analysis, to series such as TD Bank Film Study. In his role with the team, Marc also serves as host and reporter for player interviews, as well as practice and game reports. Marc is also the lead writer and columnist for Celtics.com, and his written work has been showcased on some of the highest-trafficked sports websites in the world, including ESPN.com and NBA.com. You name it in the world of basketball, and Marc has covered it, from the Olympics, to the NBA Finals, to the NBA All-Star game, to the NBA Draft, to NBA Summer Leagues. He has also been featured as a call-in guest to many radio shows and podcasts across the country.

He previously worked for the Orlando Magic and interned at BDA Sports, a major basketball agency. Marc graduated from Ithaca's Roy. H. Park School of Communications and majored in Journalism with a minor in Sports Studies. He was selected into the ICLA program, where he interned for BDA Sports in Los Angeles. Marc's brother, Mike, is also a four-year football player and graduate of the Park School who is now an Imagineer at Disney.
