The LGBT Center Student Research Team and director Luca Maurer were honored with two awards from ACPA - College Student Educators International this year for their Ithaca LGBTQ Local History Tour Initiative: the Outstanding Social Justice Collaboration Award and the Research Recognition Award.
Outstanding Social Justice Collaboration Award from the ACPA Commission for Social Justice Education
This award recognizes outstanding collaborative efforts between campus and community groups/offices/organizations, or committees/commissions of ACPA and/or other national associations. The award recognizes creative initiative taking in a collaborative partnership that addresses an issue of social justice on their campus or in their community, in a progressive and positive manner.
The Research Recognition Award from the ACPA Coalition of Sexuality and Gender Identities
The Research Recognition Award is given in recognition for completed or ongoing research on LGBT issues.
ACPA is the leading comprehensive student affairs association that advances student affairs and engages students for a lifetime of learning and discovery.
The awards were presented at the ACPA conference in Nashville TN earlier this semester.
