Another national award for LGBT Center students and director Luca Maurer - NASPA

IC's LGBT Center Student Research Team and director Luca Maurer are the recipients of  the 2020 NASPA Exemplary Program Award of the Gender & Sexuality Knowledge Community, for our LGBTQ Local History Tour Initiative. To have the work of our students and office recognized by NASPA is a wonderful addition to the contributions this initiative has made already to our local and national communities.

The award is for extraordinary contribution to the advancement of sexual and gender minorities inclusivity and education at the highest and broadest level. Awardees exhibit excellence and/or innovations that have added to the profession of Student Affairs and Higher Education and enhance the lives of their communities. 

To qualify the program must demonstrate relevance to gender & sexuality topics in Higher Education, specific and measurable goals and learning outcomes, a thorough and creative design, a quantifiable impact on audience, institution, community and/or field of Higher Education, and be replicable at other institutions.

NASPA is a Student Affairs professional organization supporting a network of 15,000 professionals and 1,400 institutions across the globe.

This distinction was shared with participants during the national NASPA virtual annual conference.
