Patricia Zimmermann, Professor of Screen Studies and Codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, published an essay entitled "COVID-19 Movement V: Grave" for the Harun Farocki Institute in Germany.
It is available in English, and is currently being translated into German.
The essay is the fifth installment of Zimmermann's five-part essay series modeled on movements in a sonata to probe how the pandemic has upended and recalibrated arts, culture, teaching, work, public health, theory, and politics. The essays are written in creative nonfiction style and interweave the personal and the political. The five movements of this series were originally invited contributions for the new media international listserv/project EMPYRE: A SOFT SKINNED SPACE, and were published throughout the month of April.
