IT@IC to install fix for Apple Users for the KeyChain Error Messages

Contributed by Andrew Hogan

Over the next few weeks IT@IC will be pushing out a fix to eliminate the Keychain error that many users of college-owned Apple computers experience as a result of password synchronization issues.

IT@IC will be deploying NoMAD which will help keep the Mac computer’s login password in sync with your Netpass password, which will eliminate the common Keychain error after an individual changes their Netpass password.  Once NoMAD is installed the initial Mac login screen will change to a light gray background with a large Ithaca College logo.  Please see the NoMAD help guide for more information.

Individuals with a College issued Apple computer will have NoMAD installed automatically - the specific date for your installation will be communicated to you via email.

NoMAD also provides quick access to other useful tools and services.  NoMAD features are accessed through the NoMAD menu bar icon which is a plain black triangle when not connected, and has a green check mark in it when connected. It is important to note that some functions of NoMAD are only available if the computer is connected to the campus network, either directly or through the GlobalProtect VPN.

NoMAD Features:

• Update Password - Requires campus network/VPN; provides access to Netpass Manager

• Get Software - Requires any network connection; provides access to the IC Self Service software portal

• Get Help - Requires any network connection; provides access to the Bomgar IT remote support and chat portal

• Mentor - Requires campus network/VPN; provides access to Mentor Shared folders

Please contact the Information Technology Service Desk for questions or assistance by phone (607)274-1000, by email: Servicedesk@ithaca.edu or via live chat.  Thank you.
