Provost La Jerne Terry Cornish has announced that Dr. Alka Bramhandkar will serve as interim dean of the School of Business effective July 1, 2020 while a search for the successor to Dean Sean Reid is conducted in the fall semester. Bramhandkar is currently a professor and chair of the Finance and International Business department.  Reid announced that he has accepted the position of provost at Providence College.

“I am pleased that Dr. Bramhandkar will be in this leadership role,” said Cornish. “Her service as a faculty member, associate dean and department chair within the School of Business provides experience and knowledge that will prove valuable in the interim position. I am grateful that she has agreed to contribute her leadership during the transitional period.”

Dr. Bramhandkar joined the college in 1984 and has taught a variety of management, finance and marketing courses.  She served as an associate dean of the School of Business from 2009-2010, department chair since 2015 and was promoted to full professor in 2008.  She earned her Ph.D., M.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and her B.S. from the University of Bombay, Bombay, India.

In the near future, the provost will convene a Business School Dean Search Committee with the intention of announcing a permanent dean by next spring.
