Sharing with our community the recent changes in leadership in SACL. I have asked Doreen Hettich-Atkins and Hierald Osorto to step into new leadership roles within my executive leadership team.

Dear IC Community,

First, I would like to share that after 20 years of service to Ithaca College, Dr. Roger (Doc) Richardson retired on June 30th. I especially would like to thank Dr. Richardson for his leadership in Student Affairs and Campus Life over the years. On a more personal note, Doc was a great colleague and I am grateful for his support during my first three years at Ithaca. His legacy will continue to be greatly appreciated, and we wish him a happy and well-deserved retirement. We will be in touch soon with details regarding his virtual retirement celebration!

Prior to his retirement, Doc and I spent some time discussing the transition of his portfolio. We wanted to be certain that at the center of all decisions are our students. I am happy to share that I have asked Doreen Hettich-Atkins and Hierald Osorto to step into new leadership roles within my executive leadership team.

As of July1, Doreen has been serving as the Executive Director of Student Affairs and Campus Life. In this new role Doreen will provide leadership and oversight to the Office of Student Engagement and the Campus Center. Doreen has been part of the Ithaca community since 2004.  She previously served as the Director of Strategic Planning and Administration for the division.  Prior to joining IC, she served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer at Penn State-Brandywine, and as Associate Dean for Student Development at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

As of July 15, Hierald has been serving as the Executive Director for Student Equity and Belonging and Director for the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. In this newly created role Hierald will provide strategic leadership, planning, and coordination of student focused diversity, equity and inclusion, programs and services. He will provide leadership at the college around to expansion and promotion of inclusive experiences that create a sense of community and belonging for students. He will provide oversight to the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, the Center for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Social Change (IDEAS), the Center for LGBTQ Education, Outreach and Services. Hierald joined the Ithaca community in 2018 as the inaugural Director for the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life.

All my best,

Rosanna Ferro, EdD - Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life
