Student Governance Council is looking for a Vice President of Business and Finance for the 2020-2021 academic year. Applications are available on Engage and due by 8/23/2020 at 11:45pm.
To our student community,
Student Governance Council is looking for a Vice President of Business and Finance, replacing Ryan Ingerson. We wish Ryan the best and he will be dearly missed by everyone on the council.
Applications for Student Governance Council’s Vice President of Business and Finance for the 2020-2021 academic year are open and available on Engage.
The incoming Vice President of Business and Finance will be working alongside the recently elected Executive Board, ICPOWER.
As stated in the SGC Constitution, the Vice President of Business Finance shall:
Oversee all SGC financial transactions.
Chair the Appropriations Committee.
Follow the policies and procedures outlined in the Allocations Handbook.
Select an assistant to help fulfill the duties of the position.
Coordinate meetings of the Appropriations Committee with student clubs and organizations.
Prepare and submit a budget proposal in coordination with the incoming Executive Board to SGC for the next academic year.
Work in coordination with the Office of Student Engagement to revise and update the SGC Allocations Handbook.
Present and submit any of the Appropriations Committee’s budget decisions to the Senate if a club or organization is appealing the Appropriations Committee’s decision.
Update the Senate of the status of the Student Activities Fund.
Present Appropriations Committee allocations at the discretion of the Senate.
Meet regularly with the Student Organizations Business Coordinator.
Meet at least once per block with the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
In addition, we are looking for someone who has the time to commit to this position. We are looking for someone with the motivation needed to be bold and innovative alongside the rest of the council. The Vice President of Business and Finance fosters a close relationship with many OSE (Office of Student Engagement) organizations and needs to be able to navigate this relationship, especially in the time of COVID-19.
Applications are due by 8/23/2020 at 11:45 PM. The SGC Executive Board will then contact applicants to schedule a Zoom interview. Following the interviews, the SGC Executive Board will meet to discuss applicants and put forth their top pick to the SGC Senate. Upon a two-thirds majority vote by the Senate, the candidate will assume the role of Vice President of Business and Finance.
In the meantime, Joseph Pullman will be serving as the Interim Vice President of Business and Finance. We thank him for stepping up and serving SGC during this time.
