Abstract
Improvements in firm performance resulting from both wider adoption of and advances in, business analytics have been widely touted. However, the impact of analytics on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is not well understood, especially in the US context. In this study we interview small businesses across a variety of industries in NY State. Our findings provide new insights into existing capabilities in data acquisition/analysis, level of awareness of analytics technologies/tools, and the drivers of and barriers to analytics adoption.
