Please save the date and prepare to join our second Conversation on COVID with Dr. Susan Salahshor, Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program at Ithaca College.

Thursday, Oct. 15 at 4-5pm. Please use this link to attend.

Spanning the fall semester and programmed every few weeks, Conversations on COVID is a one-hour event. It features a 30-minute interview with our featured guest followed by Q & A with our audience.

The COVID pandemic exposes in full view enormous health disparities and inequalities during a time of global protests for racial justice.  It has also provoked questions about the preparedness of our public health and medical care systems

Dr. Salahshor is the founding Program Director for the Physician Assistant Program at Ithaca College. Dr. Salahshor has been a Physician Assistant (PA) for 26 years with experience in approximately 11 specialties including geriatrics, surgery, and rural medicine. She also has a PhD in health care management.  Dr. Salahshor is a past president of the Florida Academy of PAs (FAPA), and the first African American to serve in this role. She is certified in quality improvement methodologies in healthcare delivery systems.  A Mental Health First Aid Instructor (MHFA), Dr. Salahshor is certified to teach the adult, higher education, youth, military and service members. She has also served 3 years in the US Army Reserves.

The pandemic constitutes a historic moment for students enrolled in health degrees. They can study the current disruptions and begin to rethink how to challenge the health status quo in order to produce more equality in the health system and to reduce systematic racism in health institutions and practices.

The School of Health Sciences and Human Performance is pleased to offer an opportunity to hear from Ithaca College faculty, staff, and alumni who will share their insights and experiences on the pandemic.

Conversations on COVID is sponsored by the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance open to all Ithaca College faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
