Associate Professor Jorge Villavicencio Grossmann is guest presenter at UNIVAP's Integrated Studies Week and at SONUS International Music Festival

Jorge Villavicencio Grossmann, Associate Professor of music composition, delivered a talk titled "Pre-Columbian Musical Instruments and Graphic Arts: a Poetic Journey" at the Week of Integrated Studies and Indigenous South American Cultures organized by the Universidade do Vale do Paraiba, in Sao Paulo state, Brazil. His presentation focused on his use of indigenous pre-Columbian instruments in his recent works as well as the influence of indigenous Paracas tapestries in the poetics of his compositional language. The presentation was followed by a Q&A with faculty members and students of UNIVAP and other universities in Brazil.  Dr. Grossmann also will be part of the international roster of guest speakers at SONUS International Music Festival  sponsored by Catholic University of America. This year's edition of SONUS Festival is dedicated to the works of Argentinian composer Carlos Guastavino on occasion of the 20 years of his death.
