Dr. Paul R. Geisler, ATC, Professor and Director of Athletic Training Education in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training presented a talk on programmatic outcomes at the 2020 EBMA Virtual Conference, "Past, Present and Future Assessment in Medical Education" on Thursday, October 15, 2020.
Originally scheduled to be held in September in Glasgow Scotland, the European Board of Medical Assessors (EBMA) moved their annual conference online as a result of COVID-19, and the accepted speakers and presentations have been spread out for delivery based on theme, from October to March, 2021.
Dr. Geisler and his colleague, Dr. Patrick O. McKeon had their submission entitled Using Computer Based Virtual Scripts to Assess Clinical Capabilities in Athletic Training Students accepted for presentation in the "Assessment Technologies and Methods" theme. Dr. Geisler presented his research as part of a panel of other health professions assessment experts from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom to an international audience.
The European Board of Medical Assessors (EBMA) consists of a group of European professionals who have expertise in assessment and/or have leadership roles in universities, or other bodies concerned with medical education and training. They exist to promote best assessment practice in medical education in Europe and aims to set clear standards and benchmarks within assessment programmes in medical education and will provide a fresh and innovative experience in the European context. EBMA is an inclusive organisation and eventually expects to have open-minded contributors throughout Europe.
