Zoom: Live Transcription Update

Per our recent Intercom announcement on Tuesday, October 13, Information Technology is excited to announce that Zoom has released a new feature to allow for live computer-generated transcription services for meetings and webinars.

Unfortunately, we are experiencing a delay with enabling this new feature as the default for all Ithaca College Zoom accounts. However, individuals can now enable this live transcription service for their own account as desired.

How do I enable Zoom Auto-Transcription?

  1. Visit https://ithaca.zoom.us/ and click Sign In in the top right corner
  2. Log in with your Ithaca College username and password
  3. Click Settings in the left navigation or from the drop-down menu on a mobile device
  4. Scroll down to the In Meeting (Advanced) section and locate the Closed captioning setting
  5. Check the box underneath Closed captioning to “Enable live transcription service to show transcript on the side panel in-meeting” and click Save (if you do not see this option, toggle the Closed captioning button to On)

Information Technology is working with Zoom support to enable the live transcript setting for all Ithaca College Zoom accounts by default and will update the community once this has been enabled.
