Intermediate/Advanced Drawing: Visual Narrative in Illustration

This drawing course introduces you to the creative process behind visually conveying an idea, message, or story in different forms of contemporary graphic storytelling –– such as illustration (op-ed art), cartooning, comics, and longer forms of sequential art like graphic novels.

We’ll explore similarities and differences between each genre, as well as the different tools and techniques available to create them. Building on work in your previous drawing classes, you’ll develop skill in sketching sessions, participate in class critique, and complete multiple projects. By term’s end, you’ll have the understanding and tools to take a concept and explore the creative options for expressing it in the most effective visual way.

Prerequisites: Intermediate: Any Art 11XXX.  Advanced: Any Art 21xxx.
