As we all know by now, the COVID pandemic exposes in full view enormous public health and clinical issues for the country and challenges for teaching at all levels. Our guests are college professors who have been working directly with students and clients.

Dr. Carly Jo Hosbach-Cannon is an Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at Ithaca College. A medical speech-language pathologist, she teaches anatomy & physiology and speech science at the undergraduate level, and courses in dysphagia, voice disorders, and medical topics at the graduate level. In addition, she serves as a clinical supervisor for graduate SLP students in the Ewing Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic, as well as Cayuga ENT. Dr. Hosbach-Cannon holds a BS in Hearing, Speech and Language Science from Ohio University, MS in Speech-Language Pathology from Misericordia University, and a PhD in Speech-Language Pathology from Syracuse University, and has been a licensed clinician since 2010. Currently, her research focuses on objective and subjective measures of laryngeal physiology and kinematics, transgender voice modification, and diagnostic imaging.

Todd Lazenby is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Exercise and Athletic Training’s Athletic Training Education Program at Ithaca College and his primary clinical responsibilities are with the football and baseball teams.  Before arriving at Ithaca College, he worked for 10 years in the NFL, 7 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and 3 as the Head Athletic Trainer with the San Francisco Forty Niners.  Prior to that he worked for 5 years in an Orlando, FL PT clinic with the additional responsibility of covering local high school athletics.  He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Ohio State University.  Over the years he has developed a passion for learning various manual therapy techniques and has recently focused his efforts to improve his clinical outcomes through a better understanding of the myofascial system of the body.

Conversations on COVID is sponsored by the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance open to all Ithaca College faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
