The Offices of Dining Services and Religious and Spiritual Life are pleased to announce that Ithaca College has partnered with STAR-K Kosher Certification to provide kosher certification beginning in January, 2021. STAR-K is a widely recognized leader in kosher certification and provides service to many college and university campuses.
“Our partnership with Star-K demonstrates our commitment to the flourishing of our students including our students who keep kosher. We are grateful to the Office of Dining Services for seeking out the best in the industry,” Hierald Osorto, Executive Director for Student Equity and Belonging and Director of Religious and Spiritual Life.
Rabbi Mayer Kurcfeld, Assistant Director for Supervision at STAR-K expressed his excitement to partner with Ithaca College, “Since my initial meeting with the management at Ithaca College, it is clear to me from the start that their commitment to uphold STAR-K kosher standards is of utmost importance to them. I feel confident that the crucial partnership we have built over time – based upon mutual professional courtesy, respect, communication, and transparency – coupled with STAR-K’s track record of working productively in a campus environment while understanding it’s needs and dynamics, will enable us to achieve our shared goal of providing quality kosher meals. Our onsite experienced Rabbinical Representative, Chaim Goldgrab, and I are very excited to be joining this new venture and look forward to being a part of the successful, kosher dining program!”
“The partnership between Dining Services and Religious and Spiritual Life has always been at the very top of our priorities and this commitment to furthering Kosher Services on campus. It represents a strengthening of not only our continued collaboration but also our continued commitment to providing first class food service,” Scott McWilliams, Director of Dining Services.
Kosher service on the Ithaca College campus was started by Rabbi Eli Silberstein who served as the supervising Rabbi for many years with dedication and a commitment to the Jewish community on campus. Ithaca College Dining Services and Religious and Spiritual Life thank both Rabbi Silberstein and Avraham Himmelfarb for their years of service.
