Message to Campus Community Regarding Winter Storm

All members of the Ithaca College community are encouraged to use their best judgment in traveling safely and avoiding unnecessary risks during the winter storm that will bring potentially substantial snowfall to much of the region overnight. With instruction remote for the semester and a greatly reduced on-campus student population and workforce, at this time the college does not anticipate any formal change to its operating status.

In accord with the college’s Inclement Weather policy, employees whose work requires them to be on campus will be expected to work their normal hours unless the college is officially closed. However, there are times when the college is not officially closed, but when conditions make it appropriate for a supervisor to be flexible in allowing employees to depart from their normal schedules. In these situations, employees are expected to have regular communication with their supervisor regarding their circumstances. Employees who miss time because of late arrival, early departure, or absence due to inclement weather or other special conditions may choose to make up the time, use personal or vacation time, or have a reduced paycheck if there are no accruals to use.

Any announcement of a change in the college’s operating status will be made via the Emergency Notification System (ENS), social media channels, the college’s website and the Emergency Hotline (607-274-1495). More information about emergency closing policies and procedures can be found in the Ithaca College Policy Manual.
