Dear Ithaca College Community,
It is with deepest sadness that we write to the campus community to share news of the unexpected passing today of junior Abby Paquet, an applied psychology major in our School of Humanities and Sciences. Abby was from Williamsville, New York, and a 2018 graduate of Williamsville South High School. She was a leader with the Ithaca College chapter of Habitat for Humanity where she helped build better lives for local families, a Dean’s List student, an inductee into the college’s Oracle Honor Society, and a student employee with Information Technology.
Along with the entire IC community, we offer our sincerest condolences to Abby’s family, friends, classmates, professors, co-workers, and all who are affected by her passing. Let us all please pause to keep Abby and her loved ones in our thoughts and prayers, and to please continue to look out for one another.
As always, support services for students are available through the Ithaca College Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) by calling 607-274-3136. Students needing immediate assistance should contact the Office of Public Safety at 607-274-3333 or the on-duty residential life staff. Faculty and staff can access the counseling services of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) by calling 1-800-327-2255. The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life has a website dedicated to grief resources, and can also provide support by contacting Hierald Osorto, director for religious and spiritual life, at hosorto@ithaca.edu.
The college will provide an opportunity for members of the campus community to gather in a virtual space to remember Abby and to support one another at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, via this Zoom link.
