In what is quickly becoming an annual tradition, three students in the Ithaca College MGMT 29800 class have been selected as guest columnists for With Further Ado.
Students of MGMT 29800, Creating and Managing Conventions, the class which recently planned, publicized and managed ITHACON, the nation’s second longest running comic convention, was given an unusual assignment – to write a column as part of a competition.

Instructor Ed Catto, who writes the long-running weekly With Further Ado, leverages this platform to explore the convergence of entrepreneurism and pop culture. The editor of Pop Culture Squad, as an impartial judge, selected the most insightful and innovative student entries. Each will be published the Pop Culture Squad site.
“It’s been impressive to see how these students embrace entrepreneurism, opportunity and pop culture in this class and in this assignment in particular,” said Ed Catto, an instructor in Ithaca College’s School of Business and the creator/writer of With Further Ado.

This tradeshow and conventions course is part of the Business School’s entrepreneurial minor established by Brad Treat. This course, taught by Ed Catto, focuses on entrepreneurs and the strategies and tactics behind conventions and trade shows.
This year’s ITHACON was 100% online, and many of the student’s efforts can be found via the videos posted at ITHACON.org.
