Facilities Update – Summer 2021 Projects & Initiatives

Campus Community Members:

I am pleased to provide the campus community with a list of some of the more significant initiatives and projects that the Facilities Department will be executing this summer.  Our goal, as always, is to provide stellar service. Accordingly, we have a focused project agenda during the summer months so that the academic year instructional program and all services in support of and related thereto are not impacted. Although there will be fewer members of the campus community in-person this summer, I thank you in advance for pardoning the occasional noise, dust and temporary closures of particular walkways, parking lots and building entrances – these are unfortunate, but necessary byproducts of the activities we are pursuing as we work to improve your campus.

Summer 2021 Facilities Project List

• Physician Assistant Program Construction
• Roof Repairs – CHS and Whalen
• Residence Hall Renewal Initiatives (includes carpeting of four (4) buildings, painting of seven (7) buildings and installation of an ADA restroom in Terrace 9)
• Muller Chapel: Staining and Sealing of Chapel; Replace Large Windows; Update Electric Units
• College Circle Apartment Preventative Maintenance
• Resurfacing of the following floors: Fitness Center Wood Floor; Whalen and Dillingham Performance Floors; Wellness Clinic Aerobics Room Floor
• Bus Shelter Installation at Park Communications (an SGC initiative)
• Replace Emergency Generator in Ford/Whalen
• Paving and Patching of Select Roadways/Walkways
• Sidewalk repairs - Academic Quad.
• Installation of Split Heat/Cooling Systems - Circles Community Center
• CNS Transfer Switch Installation
• Freeman Baseball Field Infield Restoration (performed by the IC Grounds team)
• Bench and Patio Installation at Park School of Communications
• Trail Kiosk in Natural Lands
• Boiler Rebuilding (various campus buildings)
• Circles Annual Window Replacement
• Third and final phase of Circles Boiler/Hot Water Heater Replacements
• Power Wash and Paint Exterior of Central Services Building
• Repointing Central Services Building 
• Replacement of a Transfer Switch in CNS
• Replace two Hot Water Heaters in CNS
• CNS East Side Paver Roof – replacement vs. repair currently being studied
• Replace Shower Valves in CHS
• Replace Shower Drains in Emerson Hall
• Air Conditioning Upgrades - Radio Broadcast Room in Park Communications
• Replace Waste Piping in Towers Dining Hall
• Replace Expansion Tank in Williams Hall
• Carpet Cleaning in Residential Buildings (performed by the IC FSET team)
• Office Cleaning – returning to pre-pandemic cleaning standards/frequencies
