Dear Faculty and Staff,

We hope this message finds you well as we bring a conclusion to the 2020-21 academic year. As we begin to turn our focus to 2021-22, we share this message today to provide some important information and clarifications regarding early move-in for students participating in pre-semester programs and prospective student employees to aid in your planning for this upcoming fall.

Let us preface this information by continuing to recommend that due to budget and space constraints, we encourage offices to make their best effort to offer programming and any potential training in a virtual format, if possible, in lieu of having students return to campus as early arrivals this fall. All departments that intend to host pre-semester programs in-person or have their students employees return as early arrivals MUST budget accordingly to have their student’s meals covered until the beginning of the IC dining plan on Monday, August 16.

The Move-In Committee recommends the following criteria for departments to consider when seeking an early arrival exception for their students:

The Office of Residential Life will be sponsoring two separate dates for on-campus early arrivals this fall.

As we continue to assess particular challenges imposed by the pandemic, the Office of Residential Life will continue to operate a regimented check-in process as we repopulate our South Hill campus for the fall semester. All students will need to select their arrival date and time. In order to adequately prepare for this effort, the Office of Residential Life will need advance notice of departments seeking early arrivals for student employees and students participating in pre-semester programs. Please complete the following form by Thursday, June 24, to file the early arrival notice with the Office of Residential Life.

Ithaca College Early Arrival Request Form

The Move-In Committee will be unable to guarantee enough check-in appointments for early arrival submissions that are made after the June 24 deadline.

Please note that we strongly encourage that students you are seeking for early arrivals be FULLY VACCINATED prior to arriving on-campus. Although Ithaca College will have capacity to test students during the August 10 arrival window, the Hammond Health Center does not have the capacity to process arrival tests for students during the Sunday, August 15, move-in date.

We hope this information helps in your preparations for this coming semester.
