IC in the Media

This spring, at least 168 media outlets nationwide picked up an Associated Press story, "Study Finds Kids Gain Weight Over Summer," that cited the expertise of Betsy Keller, professor of exercise and sport sciences in the School of HSHP.

President Peggy R. Williams took part in a live radio and TV broadcast in March, joining Cornell University president David Skorton and Tompkins Cortland Community College president Carl Haynes in a roundtable discussion of issues related to the cost of higher education. "Higher Ed in the Round" aired on public radio stations WEOS-FM and WSKG-FM and cable channel 16.

In April, TV stations in Buffalo, Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and Binghamton aired stories on the upcoming October visit to IC by the Dalai Lama. Hosted by the Namgyal Monastery, which is building a new facility just south of the College, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism will speak in Ben Light Gym on campus as well as at Cornell and the downtown State Theatre.
