Cinema on the Edge, the interdisciplinary initiative to connect contemporary media arts with public debate and discussion, launches its fall season with an exciting roster of visiting filmmakers, screenings with panel discussions, and touring film festivals.

September highlights include:

In a Polish shtetl, two young men who have grown up together betroth their unborn children, despite the advice of a mysterious traveler who warns them not to pledge the lives of future generations. The children grow up in different towns without ever knowing of the betrothal, but the power of the vow leads them to meet each other when they are marriageable.

This event is sponsored by Hillel and Jewish Studies.

All events are free, open to the public, and take place in Park Auditorium (in the Park School) unless another venue is indicated.

Look for more events as Cinema on the Edge and Ithaca College host the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival in October and the film The Intolerable Burden with visiting filmmakers Constance Curry and Chea Prince.

Cinema on the Edge is co-curated by Patricia R. Zimmermann, Gina Marchetti, and Anna Siomopoulos.
