Update (May 20, 2009): The College has lifted its ban on College-sponsored travel to Mexico. Please see this May 20 Intercom story for more details.
As of May 3, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to recommend that U.S. travelers avoid all nonessential travel to Mexico because of the spread and severity of the H1N1 influenza (swine flu) in that country.
Some of the U.S. swine flu cases have been linked to persons who have traveled to Mexico. The CDC is concerned that travel to Mexico presents a serious health risk for the traveler and for others who might be exposed to the flu upon the traveler's return to the United States.
Accordingly, the Ithaca College Core Emergency Response Team (CERT) has determined that the College will not support any college-sponsored travel to Mexico by faculty, staff, or students until further notice. This will also apply to any other countries should they be added to the CDC travel health warning list. Anyone with questions should contact the Office of International Programs at 607-274-3306.
You can read the full CDC travel health warning, along with other continually updated swine flu information, at the CDC website:
