On Tuesday, October 20, at 4:00p.m. in Center for Natural Sciences Room 112, the Sustainability Café will explore "Striving toward Zero Waste,” presented by Kat McCarthy '05, Waste Reduction and Recycling Specialist for Tompkins County Solid Waste Management.

Kat McCarthy teaches the community how to reduce, reuse, recycle, and “rebuy”. She has worked on the ReBusiness Partners Program, curbside recycling issues, and waste management policy. Kat has been instrumental in the development of the ReUse Center, the Finger Lakes BuyGreen website, and the Finger Lakes Environmentally Preferred Procurement Consortium. After becoming a Master Composter, Kat formed the Zero Waste Festival Alliance, engaging volunteers to support waste reduction at many local festivals and special events.

This Café is being held in conjunction with the Environmental Seminar.

"Teachable edibles" -- seasonal, organic, and/or local foods -- for the fall 2009 Sustainability Café series are being supported by Ithaca College Dining Services. Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the drinking fountain or provide your beverage of choice.

Drink in a new way to think in the Sustainability Café.
