Dr. Leon W. Couch III played a solo organ recital at the historic Union Sunday School in Clermont, Iowa, on May 29, 2011.
In the Concert 2011 Series, Dr. Couch presented a diverse recital with works spanning the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries. The program included masterworks by Dieterich Buxtehude, Maria von Paradis, Johannes Pachelbel, J. S. Bach, and Louis Vierne. A popular performer, Couch has been invited to play four times in their series during the past decade.
The Organ Recital Series is co-sponsored by Montauk (State Historical Society of Iowa) and the Clermont Historical society. Union Sunday School houses the world’s largest extant Kimball tubular pneumatic organ (1,554 pipes).
