Dr. Leon W. Couch III played a solo organ recital at the historic Union Sunday School in Clermont, Iowa, on May 29, 2011.

In the Concert 2011 Series, Dr. Couch presented a diverse recital with works spanning the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries.  The program included masterworks by Dieterich Buxtehude, Maria von Paradis, Johannes Pachelbel, J. S. Bach, and Louis Vierne.  A popular performer, Couch has been invited to play four times in their series during the past decade.

The Organ Recital Series is co-sponsored by Montauk (State Historical Society of Iowa) and the Clermont Historical society.  Union Sunday School houses the world’s largest extant Kimball tubular pneumatic organ (1,554 pipes).  It was recently restored by Dobson Pipe Organ Builders: www.dobsonorgan.com/html/instruments/resto_rebuild/clermont.html .
