The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday will be celebrated in 2012 during the first week of classes, January 23-28, 2012 (as the Federal holiday falls this year prior to the return of students). MLK Week 2012 marks the 17th annual Ithaca College community celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his teachings.
The MLK planning committee is proud to announce the 2012 MLK Week theme: A New Definition of Greatness.
“If you want to be great – wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That’s a new definition of greatness…it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from the “Drum Major Instinct" sermon, given on February 4, 1968
The planning committee is soliciting academic presentations as part of this week of celebration and service.
All academic presentations will be held on Tuesday, January 24 or Thursday, January 26 between 12:15 and 1:00 pm.
Presentation proposals should be submitted utilizing this on-line form no later than Friday, December 9.
Once all proposals have been received, I will get back in touch with you before December 16 to confirm your presentation time and location.
Thank you for your interest in participating in this important program of education and service.
