This week the Handwerker Gallery is excited to be collaborating with the Saltonstall Colony, bringing two of their artists-in-residence to campus for an artist talk with Melanie Kozol and a poetry reading with Annie Jacobs.  Please join us this Thursday, September 13, at 6.00 p.m..

Melanie Kozol is a painter whose work evokes a sense of the familiar, a place remembered or just imagined. She works mostly outdoors using watercolors, sketches and photographs as source material for oil painting. She earned her BA from Connecticut College (New London, CT) and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts (NY). She also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (ME) and was awarded a Visual Arts Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Annie Jacobs writes in an effort to translate her involvement with the world. She has worked as an environmental educator and field researcher throughout the United States and abroad, and with Jewish-Arab coexistence efforts in Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and Jordan. Her unique practice includes both written and visual work, both components of which will be shared during her presentation.
