Thursdays at the Handwerker: Saltonstall artists, Melanie Kozol (painter) & Annie Jacobs (poet)Contributed by Mara Baldwin on 09/10/12 This week the Handwerker Gallery is excited to be collaborating with the Saltonstall Colony, bringing two of their artists-in-residence to campus for an artist talk with Melanie Kozol and a poetry reading with Annie Jacobs. Please join us this Thursday, September 13, at 6.00 p.m.. Melanie Kozol is a painter whose work evokes a sense of the familiar, a place remembered or just imagined. She works mostly outdoors using watercolors, sketches and photographs as source material for oil painting.She earned her BA from Connecticut College (New London, CT) and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts (NY). She also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (ME) and was awarded a Visual Arts Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.; Thursday, 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.; and weekends, noon to 5.00 p.m.. The gallery is closed to the public on Tuesdays unless otherwise specified for an event but can accommodate group or class visits by appointment.
