Cornell Savoyards Musical Theatre will hold auditions for Princess Ida tonight at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 109 Oak Avenue, Ithaca (Collegetown).
All are invited to try out for principals and chorus. Ten-minute slots are available at the following times:
Please bring a song in English. An accompanist will be provided, as well as excerpts from the piano-vocal score.
This original adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan's 1884 opera about feminism, philanthropy, and higher education honors Cornell University's Sesquicentennial.
Set in Upstate New York after the Civil War, Princess Ida or Minerva's Academy investigates the social and political milieu of Cornell's founding, reproduces the campus culture of such regional women's colleges as Vassar and Wells, and honors the Seneca Falls Women's Rights Convention. The libretto is by Anthony Di Renzo, associate professor of writing.

Casting will be announced in April, followed by a read-through. Rehearsals will occur in May and June.
