Brothers for Brothers (B4B) is a student organization dedicated to providing a safe space and support system for marginalized men on campus.  B4B welcomes all students on campus who identify as male and incorporates many aspects of community involvement.  They operate on a CAPS system, which stands for community, academic, political, and social.  These are the four major focus areas of B4B: community service, academic commitment, and political and social consciousness.

A recent event hosted by B4B along with the Student Activities Board and the Caribbean Student Association was the Official Cortaca After Party held on Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the Fitness Center.  This event was one that B4B had brainstormed all the way back in the spring 2015 semester and had begun working on the last week in August.  Members of B4B even reached out to students at SUNY Cortland, Syracuse University, and Tompkins Cortland Community College to advertise the events on those campuses as well.  The event was a huge success with approximately 800 attendees throughout the night.

Some other events B4B members look forward to are the Welcome BBQ, End-of-the-Year BBQ, and the biannual Alumni Banquet, which includes a weekend of festivities with all current brothers and alumni dating back to when B4B was founded.

Besides the events B4B plans, the student organization also holds weekly meetings every Friday at 6:30 pm in the ALS room in West Tower.  The purpose of the weekly meeting varies, but always includes an educational conversation.  Co-President Nathaniel Gonzalez explained “weekly meetings are a discussion.  The topic is not advertised; it’s just revealed at the meeting and can cover anything from sports to movements on campuses around the country.  We’re making sure general body members are aware of everything they can be as often as possible.”

For more information about B4B, visit their OrgSync page or stop by one of their weekly meetings on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the ALS room.
