In this course, we discuss the rich diversity of human biologies as the product of complex interactions among environment, culture, and biology. We explore the adaptive repertoire of the human species to environmental stressors. This includes behavioral, physiological, and genetic responses. We discuss the positive and negative ways in which culture and behavior may impact our response to stress. This includes an understanding of how power dynamics in past and modern societies have resulted in unequal distribution of material resources, and how this may impact biologies.
