Looking for Power and Justice from a Natural Sciences perspective? Check out ANTH 25000 Human Variation: "Race," Biology, and CultureContributed by Jennifer Muller on 01/24/16 ANTH 25000 Human Variation now counts towards Natural Sciences and Social Sciences perspectives in the Power and Justice theme! A few seats are still available. In this course, we discuss the rich diversity of human biologies as the product of complex interactions among environment, culture, and biology. We explore the adaptive repertoire of the human species to environmental stressors. This includes behavioral, physiological, and genetic responses. We discuss the positive and negative ways in which culture and behavior may impact our response to stress. This includes an understanding of how power dynamics in past and modern societies have resulted in unequal distribution of material resources, and how this may impact biologies. Two sections are offered in Spring 2016: ANTH 25000-01 CRN 43925 MWF 11:00-11:50 ANTH 25000-02 CRN 43926 MWF 2:00-2:50 Contact Jennifer Muller jlmuller@ithaca.edu for more information.
