Writing Professors Present at Conference in London

Assistant Professors Raul Palma and Jacob White and Associate Professors Eleanor Henderson and Jack Wang of the Department of Writing presented at the 22nd annual Great Writing International Creative Writing Conference on July 6-7, 2019 at Imperial College in London, England.

Eleanor Henderson gave a reading from her novel The Twelve-Mile Straight and discussed historical research on Cotton County, Georgia in the 1930s. Raul Palma, Jack Wang, and Jacob White composed a panel entitled "Remapping Genre in the Creative Writing Classroom." The titles of their respective presentations were "Spatializing Narrative: a Pedagogical Approach to Revision and Deep Reading in Fiction," "One Genre Among Many: Decentering Literary Fiction in the Fiction Writing Workshop," and "Teaching Autofiction: Using Confusion as Process to Locate a More Authentic Self."
