On July 10, 2018, Guilherme Costa was announced as the new vice president and general counsel, and secretary to the Board of Trustees. Costa has served for the past three years as the chief legal officer of the public university system in South Dakota. He previously spent five years with the counsel’s office at the University of Idaho, and was an attorney at one of the nation’s leading full-service law firms.
In a message to the campus community, President Shirley M. Collado said: "Throughout his career, Guilherme has demonstrated innovative, creative leadership and a deep dedication to higher education. His varied experience and thoughtful, collaborative approach will help us reach our goals of providing a deeply student-centered learning community and a safe, productive campus environment that values full participation."
